History
This Bokhara rug is knotted in the Kashmir area that is located between Pakistan and India. The rug is made with fine wool having relatively higher knot density. It is a known fact that higher the knot density better would be the quality of rug. Higher knot density also results in durability of rugs. In current time, Bukhara rugs are some of the finest rugs manufactured in Pakistan. This rug has predominantly Bochara-like homogeneous pattern.
History:
Rug manufacturing in Pakistan began after the partition in 1947 when country was separated from India. Most of the weavers were Muslim who settled in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi. This industry was supported by government in initial years by the import of one of best qualities yarn.
Although Bukhara rugs are trademark of Kashmir area rug industry, but now they have been manufactured in Lahore & Karachi as well. These rugs are produced by using fine Australian/ New Zealand wool yarn which develops silk-like feel in these rugs. These Bukhara rugs having high knot density compete with any of the best quality of rugs in world yet have very affordable price bracket. These rugs have most of the time Bochara-like & other Turkmenistan patterns.
