History:
Handmade To know the history of these kinds of rugs, we will have to go back to the early rug weaving era of Anatolia, Turkey. The weaving of the Anatolian rugs was first initiated with the onset of the Turkish tribes from Central Asia, who decided to settle in this region of Turkey. Therefore, Anatolian rugs are commonly called a well-spread branch of ethnic Turkish rugs. These rugs were originally woven only for the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire.
This Anatolian rug features the distinguishing design of a central pole medallion intermingled with a symmetrical shape. The motifs in this piece represented in stylized floral and geometrical patterns in several basic colors were woven in the Anatolian region. On their borders is mostly smaller bands surrounding a larger band with palm and/or pine leaf designs. This Anatolian rug’s characteristic designs serve to provide them an old–world appeal and promote its exclusiveness. This Anatolian rug has dense and homogeneous knot distribution. In the rugs industry, it is a known fact that the greater the knot density, the greater the quality of the rug, and this rug does have quite denser knot distribution.
All the Anatolian rugs are weaved with the utmost care to furnish as per rug lovers’ preferences. These rugs still retain a sense of uniqueness and distinctiveness since nearly all of them are handmade as opposed to being made commercially in factories and look as fabulous after decades of their use. The Anatolian rugs are always, always high in demand, as proved by their sales popularity worldwide. The age-related wear and natural inconsistencies are inherent in these unique, handcrafted vintage rugs which rather enhance the feel and beauty of these rugs.
